Home At Last!

Hey Everyone:

Thought that I would give a quick update on the triplets….  they are all home from the hospital, yeah!!!  Hannah and Josh came home on Monday, June 25th after 19 days in the hospital and George came home Tuesday, June 26th after 20 days in the hospital.  All the babies are doing great, Hannah is on a home monitoring device for Apnea (where she forgets to breath once in a while), but hasn’t had any episodes since we’ve gotten home.  Mom, Dad and Grandma Johnson are all trying to figure out a schedule that works for everyone.  Kathy is pretty tired as she has bore the majority of the late night feedings.   Here are their current weights:

Hannah:  5lbs 1oz

Josh:      4lbs 12oz

George:  4lbs  9oz

Josh is by far the best and fastest eater… he can down his bottle in about 10 minutes.  George is probably second best, he’s a little pokey, but reliable.  Hannah is much more finicky and difficult to feed…  she will cry as she is starving one minute, then take 4 sips and be done the next.  She is getting a dose of caffeine everyday to help with the apnea episodes and she is usually very wired or very tired.

Attached are some pictures, Hannah was not very happy to have her picture taken with her brothers in the one with all three of them.  In the Oldest to Youngest picture, Hannah is one the left (in the blue, Mom’s doing), then Josh in the middle and George in the yellow on the right.

June 20th Triplets Update

Hey Everyone:

Just a quick note, not much has changed. All the babies are off oxygen, IV’s and everything, they all are working at maintaining there body temperature, eating and getting bigger. They are all in little bassinets now rather than isolettes. The hospital is thinking of sending Hannah home tomorrow, but we still think it is too soon. None of the babies have really mastered the art of eating yet, and Kathy and I aren’t as experienced feeders as the nurses in the hospital who have been doing it for 20 years. Hannah is having a few small episodes of apnea also, so if she comes home she will have an apnea monitor which is another thing I’m a little leery about. Seems like she would do better with another week in the hospital where there are doctor’s to take care of her if she has a real problem rather than just us. The boys are doing fine, just need to learn to eat better. Josh is pretty close to coming home also….. George isn’t quite as interested in bottle feeding, so he may take a little longer. Hannah is now 4lbs 12ozs, Josh is 4lbs 8ozs, and George is 4lbs 1oz…. George seems so small and fragile when you hold him, but he’s a tough little guy. He’s definitely the most alert of all of them, he likes to stay awake and look around quietly, where as Hannah and Josh pretty much sleep between feedings, and during which is a problem. Josh is probably the best eater right now…. we’ll that’s about it…

Love,

Jay, Kathy, George, Josh and Hannah

Grandma & Grandpa Rossow get to hold Joshua!

Hey Everyone:

The triplets were reunited for the very first time since birth at 10:30PM on Monday night. George finally made it over from the NICU to be with his big brother and sister. All the babies are doing great, Josh and Hannah look alot alike and you probably wouldn’t know the difference if they just handed one of them to you all wrapped up. George looks a little bit different so he’s easier to tell apart. Attached are a two pictures showing proud Grandpa and Grandma Rossow holding Josh, the first baby they’ve gotten to hold since birth.

More Triplet Pictures!

Here’s the latest from Daddy Jay:

Here are the newest pictures of Josh and Josh and Kathy because – Josh doesn’t have his headgear on, so you can now see his cute little face. :)
Josh – headgear free! :)

Mommy Kathy & Josh:

Josh just after birth:

Anyway, Hannah is still doing great, she’s under the phototherapy for jaundice for a couple of days. Josh is doing great and is off his CPAP machine and just on oxygen now. George is still on the ventilator, but doing great and they think he will be off today and onto CPAP. Kathy is still very slow and sluggish, she slept alot yesterday so hopefully will feel better today, but it’s going to be a long road to recovery for her.

3 Days…

Hey Everyone:

The triplets have been with us for almost three days now…. Here’s a quick update..

Hannah is doing fine in the special care nursery, she’s very quiet and calm and sleeps alot. She’s also starting to get hungry, but unfortunately Mom is not producing any milk yet.

Josh is doing great at the NICU, he’s still on the CPAP assisted breathing device, but he’s much more relaxed and is doing fine. He gets a little stressed when they lay him on his back, he likes to be on his stomach.

George suffered a couple of small setbacks yesterday, he went from being in an oxygen tent in Special Care, to CPAP in NICU and then he was intubated and is now on the ventilor for full breathing support. But, he is much more relaxed and they said he is doing great. Last night they had turned his Oxygen needs down from 100% on CPAP to only 28% on the ventilator and he’s breathing much easier.

Kathy is having a very rough go of it, she has not felt well at all and is in alot of pain. Every time she tries to get up she gets faint, we took her up to Special Care to see Hannah last night and that pretty much wiped her out. Hopefully, she got a good nights rest last night and will feel better today. Neither of us realized that she would be so wiped out afterwards, she said that she big time underestimated how much it would take out of her. Kathy’s been moved to room 5558, but I don’t have her new phone number with me.

Her’s a website that proud Auntie Carrie put up that has some pictures of the babies, George is kind of hard to see because he’s in his little oxygen tent:

Anyway, I have to head off to the hospital and check on the tribe….. Please keep up the prayers for us and the hospital staff, but everything looks great and God has really blessed us.

Love,

Jay, Kathy, George, Josh and Hannah
